Kiwanis Family House

together is better

The October issue of Kiwanis Magazine featured an 8-page story about our Kiwanis Family House, which included two guest family profiles. We could not think of a better way to tell the story of ‘The House Kiwanis Built’ than through the moving words of our guest families.

Sandra and her family were one of the families featured in the story. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Anthony, Mark, Karissa, and all their family and friends for the loss of a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, and friend. May she forever Rest in Peace.

  1. I’m sitting here at my office desk at work in tears reading the story about Sandra and her beautiful family.

My mother and I stayed at the Kiwanis Family House on the weekends in January 2013 through part of February 2013 as my father was in the U.C. Davis Medical Center recovering from his injuries due to a near fatal car accident. During that time my mother and I had the pleasure of meeting Sandra and her beautiful family. Although she was going through so much she had such a positive spirit her.

I enjoyed the conversations we had together and and how Mark’s face would light up when he saw me. He liked my pajamas that I wore. My “doggie pajamas” as he called them since the pajamas I had on had prints of various dogs 🙂

My prayers goes out to her family and I hope that the good memories help them to endure the hard times.

The loving staff have the such a warm and positive spirit that allows guests (such as myself) to feel a sense of calm despite whatever stresses we are going through. Continue to keep up the good work!
