I am optimistic about the things the Board of Directors will accomplish in the coming year. Last year the Board developed a Strategic Plan that established a good foundation from which we have achievable action items in 2017-18. We have already made changes to our Committee structure and we are working on other changes to our process for electing Board Officers.
We lost some very talented people in the retirement of five of our Board members at the end of June, but we also gained some new Board members with gifts and talents that will move us forward in establishing financial growth in the years ahead.
We welcome the following individuals as new Directors on the Kiwanis Family House Board:
Terry East – Terry is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Woodland. He has less than two years service as a Kiwanian, but brings with him commercial experience in strategic planning, development and marketing. He is the COO at Davis East Consulting and he does freelance web development using WordPress.
Jon Merker – Jon is a long-time member of the East Sacramento Kiwanis Club. He has always been an ardent supporter of the KFH and has participated in many, many KFH fundraising and service projects. Jon studied communications at Sacramento State and now works as an Account Manager at Purves & Associates Insurance Agency.
Lydia Olson – Lydia is an experienced business coach/consultant who has managed numerous multi-million dollar organizations and has an MBA from U.C. Davis. Her fundraising and marketing expertise includes helping churches raise millions of dollars for capital campaigns and leading a marketing department for a mega-church which was responsible for all communication to thousands of people on a weekly basis. She has previously served on the Marketing and Development Committees for the Family House. In her eight years with Kiwanis, she has served as Club President three times. Lydia is a member of the Rocklin Kiwanis Club.
Lanelle Rogers – Lanelle has been in Kiwanis for 21 years and is a member of the Roseville Club. She is a past Kiwanis Family House (KFH) Board Director and Past KFH Board Secretary. Lanelle volunteered at the original KFH and was very involved in the Capital Campaign to build the new house. Her passion for the KFH and relationship with other Kiwanians within our Division and far beyond will present the opportunity to promote the Mission of KFH.
Scott Westphal – Scott retired in June of 2016 after 26 years of teaching and coaching High School full time, Junior College part time, and University part time as well. He is in his 18th year as a Kiwanian serving in the Shasta Dam Club in Division 39. Scott brings a rural perspective and representation of the population in the far north of our State where a sizable percentage of families utilize the KFH. Scott and his wife, Leanne, have been coming to the KFH at least once a month for what he terms “a rewarding day of volunteerism”.
I hope that all Kiwanians and their clubs will support the efforts of these new Board Directors as they carry out their duties.
This is an outstanding letter to all of us, Guy! Thank you for sharing such great news, especially about the new board members!
